Phenomenon

In the past on the June Longweekend there has been an Ancients Wargaming Con in Sydney. But due to ongoing feebleness in the organisers it was not run. Partly I suppose this is because of the schism in the rules, with the previously most popular rulesset DBM being replaced by one of the authors with DBMM and the other author writing a new set of rules called Fields of Glory (FoG). FoG seems to the more popular, but not by much. The most popular historical ruleset at the moment is Flames of war which is a WW2 game from NZ.

At any rate on this weekend Phenomenon was on. This is mainly a Roleplaying Con but over the last few years Figure Games have been added on. So because there was no Ancient comp in Sydney some of the locals ran a comp at this con.

So Darryl, Alex and Balrog came down to enter. I originally planned to wander over with Rory after his soccer match, hang around and spend money. One of the guys at the club was planning on playing on the Saturday, so essentially we were entering as a team and playing in shifts. He did not turn up, he has a teething child and I don't think anyone slept in his house. He told us he would play on Sunday instead and didn't

At any rate I did not play on Sunday either but brought Rory with me again, and he played one of Balrogs games assisted by Balrog.

The saturday night was spent watching fireworks and eating and drinking St Henri. So it was a good weekend and I spent money at the stalls, I bought the chariots so I could run an early chinese army.
